New Features for PDACookBook - Suggestions

I have now completely converted from PocketCook to PDA CookBook and am delighted with the reliability. Support for PocketCook seems to have vanished.

Although it never worked satifactorily, PocketCook's Mobile feature, allowing one to maintain recipes and info in a web account (quarterly payments) from anywhere with any device and download directly into the PDA was a great idea for an Apple user like me.

Another feature that would be great is to be able to email recipes and other files directly from the PDA version of PDA CookBook .

I do keep an old PC in the corner to deal with non-Mac applications, but I would prefer to not use it. It is a testament to your application that I am willing to fire it up for PDA CookBook.

more features to make better

I just converted over to PDACookbook from PocketCook too. The cleanness of the program is much appreciated; however, I must say the menu planner features seem underdeveloped. Just a couple of ideas:

1. Please create the ability to save menus. Can't speak for anyone else, but I would rather take a day and create several two week menu plans and apply these to specific weeks than create a new menu plan from scratch every time.

2. There MUST be some kind of reporting ability off the nutritional information and the menu planner. I don't think this needs to be fancy, probably just a simple sum report sorted and grouped by day and meal for any nutritional categories attached to the recipes would generally suffice.

3. I don't think this is a must, but it would be nice if there was some way to condense the shopping list, like PocketCook does. (Maybe this is somewhere and I just haven't found it yet, but it was a handy feature when I was using PocketCook).

4. Lastly, maybe it is just me, but the servings and scaling functions on the "Other" tab seems a bit odd. When I have manually input some recipes it is way too easy to forget to input it. Maybe give this a special section between the ingredients and the title? Just a thought.

I don't want to sound harsh, I really like the product.

More suggestions for Menu Planner

This is such a wonderful program!

A couple more suggestions to make the Menu Planner more useful:

1. In addition to allowing us to save menus, it would be nice to be able to choose which menus I want to print -- a day's worth, a week's worth, or a month's worth.

2. It would be nice if the menu could offer a print option of a calendar-like format, instead of as a simple list. Here's a sort of example for what a single day's menu format might look like:

Sunday, 23 July 2006

Breakfast

Pancakes
Bacon
Orange juice
Coffee

Lunch

Ham and cheese wraps
Vegetable crudites
Lemonade

Supper

Pan-grilled red snapper
Wild rice
Baby asparagus
Chardonnay

Hm, wish I could EAT like that, too; my menu usually includes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches instead! Look forward to future upgrades. JB

Thumbs up Ditto!

Hello,

I'm a new user and am enjoying using PDA Cookbook. I would like to add my request for added menu functionally.

It would be great to have the capacity to save menus for week after week usage...and as jerri suggested, having the ability to print different menus would be terrific.

Thanks for a great product!

It's me again! I love these ideas because menu planning seems to becoming ever so popular and this program is icing on the cake as far as recipe keeping is concerned.

I would like to add the ability to export our menu to our Datebook with the category meals and on more thing I would like is on the menu editing screen where you can add misc items. I don't need a recipe for a bag of frozen veggies to be fixed in the microwave but it would be nice if there was a file that "saved" the misc items we add in that screen so that we could pick from them in the future.

Am I asking to much?

You all are my heros!

Alicia

Just purchased PDA Cookbook and am in the process of tranferring all my recipies over from MealMaster. Pretty much a no brainer with your excellent program. A suggestion for the desktop program is to allow editing of multiple recipies for categories or the category of all the recipies in a particular category from the categories menu. The ability to delete or combine categories for multiple recipies is very useful for importing recipies and managing them. I have almost 3000 recipies and the thought of editing them one by one almost made me not purchase your program. Luckily, I can use MealMaster to prep the recipies before I export. I will probably keep Meal master around just so I can do this for future imports.

More new features

Hi Folks! First of all, I have to say that ever since I bought this program, I've been thrilled with it!!! Wow, what a great product! I use this with my Treo 650.

Here are the features that I would love to see added:

1. Export to Databook. I REALLY would like to see what's for dinner tonight without opening PDACookbook every time. It would also make it possible to print in the calendar format quite easily.

2. Let me link suggested side dishes and have them automatically added to the menu.

3. PLEASE let us save favorite menus by the week or month. PLEASE!!!

4. Save the Aisle on the shopping list (or at least make it optional). For those recipes I use over and over, it sure is annoying to keep re-inputting the aisles before I shop. But I use that feature EVERY time I shop!

Thanks to this software, I spend so much less time planning meals and even less grocery shopping. My grocery bills have dropped in half since I started using this program! It's been worth every penny.

Thanks!
Nan in VA
