reinstalled client, now reg code not accepted

I'm unable to open my PC client of PDACookbook Plus because my registration code is no longer recognized after installing the full version of the latest PDACookbook Plus (4.1.2). I tried installing just the update, but I got a "file could not be found" error message that instructed me to install the full version.

So, I've installed the full version, and now I'm being prompted to re-enter my registration info because the software thinks I'm trying to unlock an expired trial version (this makes sense since I did try out the software for 15 days.)

When I re-enter my reg info, I get a "runtime error 53: file does not exist" error.

FYI, my username is mharbut. Please advise.

What handheld brand & model are you using (if any)?

Have you tried entering the code on the handheld and then syncing?

Thanks.

I'm using a Treo 650.

I opted to not reinstall the handheld's software because the update's release notes described changes that only affected the Windows client. Also, I was afraid a re-install would blow out all my recipe.

The only code I've tried entering is the one I got from my handheld. (I am able to open the application on my Treo and it will sync; I just can't open the Windows client.)

It is possible that only installing the PC software has caused the handheld to not sync PDACookbook anymore.

Please email us a copy of your hotsync log, as that will be helpful.

To view your hotsync log...
In the System Tray (usually at the bottom right of your screen), click on the HotSync icon.
Select "View Log," then select your device. The HotSync log opens in a window.
Click and drag to highlight all of the text in the window.
Press Ctrl-C to copy the text.
Paste the text into a reply email.

Based on the log you sent, PDACookbook is setup to sync.

So, now I wonder what versions are installed. See the Help / About menu item within PDACookbook on the PC and handheld. Let me know what version of PDACookbook is on the PC and handheld, as they may be different.

Hi Shawn,

The version on my PDA is 4.1.0.

The version on my Windows machine is 4.1.2.

Syncing has not been the problem. I simply can't access the software on my PC because it's rejecting my registration code.

Hi Shawn,

Thanks, I got the email. However, the code is still not being accepted. I am still getting the following error message:

Run-time error 53: File not found

Should I reinstall the Windows client?

The registration info on the handheld should sync back to the PC. Since it is not doing that, then I suspect that the hotsync conduit is not setup properly.

Please download and run the full installer from:
http://www.wakefieldsoft.com/pdacookbook/download.html

When running the installer, select the Palm & PC install option, then select the option to not install the handheld data files.

After the install, sync a couple of times and it should sync the registration info to the handheld.

Thanks.
