View Full Version : Install recipes saved on CD

Before we got a new hard drive I saved the entire PDA Cookbook folder on a CD. I have had so much trouble trying to figure out how to get the recipes from the CD into the program on the computer! (I reinstalled the full version of the cookbook from your website and registered again) Please give me precise instructions on how to get the recipes back into the PC. I've tried to backup the recipes from my Palm Pilot to the PC and that doesn't work either. (yes it says Yes to the Backup data on hotsync in the PP) I am sooo frustrated! I know I have the recipes because one of the files I saved on the CD is 272KB so it must be the recipes. Put me out of my misery please! Thanks!

I thought I'd look in my Palm Pilot one more time and now my recipes aren't in it anymore! (only the 5 recipes that downloaded from your website) If I have to import 200 recipes again from my Master Cook cookbook I will but please tell me how to move them onto the PC from my CD so I can hotsync them in!

The Palm data files are in a palm folder, not the PDACookbook folder under Program Files. If you will email us the CDB files on your CD, we will be happy to take a look to see what we can help you restore.

I saved two Palm folders on a CD. In the one titled Palm there is a folder titled PalmJ and in that is a folder titled PDACookbook that has quite a few files that are CDB files! I've been dealing with this problem for 2 days and am ready for your instructions on what to do next!

You should be able to do it this way:
Start PDACookbook on the PC.
Select File / Restore from the menu.
When asked if you want to restore from the default backup folder, select NO.
Browse to the CD and to the folder \Palm\PalmJ\PDACookbook.
Select Restore and it should restore those data files into PDACookbook on the PC.
Sync the handheld and you should be all set.
