View Full Version : Ver 4 improvements
Love the enhancements in ver 4, particularly the "source" and "rating" fields.
Any plans to get them to print with the recipe?
Keep up the good work!

Sounds like we missed that for printing. I will add that to our list of items to fix quickly...

I spent a good part of yesterday trying to figure this upgrade out. I think I finally got it. Although the sync with PPC seems eratic. From my view the following would be "nice to haves"
a sync button so you can sync anytime the PDA is in the cradle. It seems as though I have to remove and reset to the cradle for the sync to work.
A weekly view for print. As it stands, if I want to print my menu, it just prints a list. Meaning main and side dishes are just vertically listed. I would like to see a weekly view so all menu items are posted on their selected day. This would be great for family members to be able to see at a glance what's for dinner.
I am also having trouble assigning a menu item to the dinner meal. Lunch is Ok but for dinner I get. This is only on the PC and not the PDA.
error 2147217887 (Multiple step operation generated errors)
While I appreciate the recipes included in the update, I did not want most of them (as with most cookbooks). The ability to preview and select them prior to upgrading would have been a great time saver. This would go with things such as categories as well. I spent a great deal of time customizing my previous version just to have the upgrade over run me.
More detailed help. Again, especially as it relates to sync.
I love this software. I use it more than any other I have. Thanks and keep up the good work.

ActiveSync does not behave as well as the Palm hotsync. We suggest setting ActiveSync to only sync upon connection, not continuously. Also, the PC software needs to be closed before syncing.
The error assigning the meal to the PC recipe has been found, and we plan to fix that this week.
Unless you told the upgrade to install the handheld data files, your data should not have been affected by the upgrade. You can email your install.log from the \Program Files\PDACookbook folder and we can see how the installer ran on your system.
Thanks for the feedback.

Can't change sync settings due to all the other software I need to sync continuously. Guess I'll live with it until then.
I am sure I told it to install all files. But hey, my stupidity is why I back things up. I just did a restore and figured it out from there.
I reading through the forum (after I first posted) I noticed many requests for the menu planner (or weekly view as I first mentioned). Any word on that?

You can probably work with the continuous sync.
The week view did not make version 4, not enough request, so it is still on the list for the next update, but it will likely be 2006. That's the honest answer ;-)
We just had too many new features to get everything into version 4.0!

I upgraded to 4.0.0 last week and had a problem and a request.
Problem: I could not get registration to "stick". Every time I started PDA Cookbook I would be in trial mode, but my registration code would be accepted and show up as registered for that session.
Today I loaded 4.0.1 and it seems OK. What could I have done wrong?
Request: The limit of 40 sources is too low for me. I collect recipes from friends, magazines, books etc and I've used the "instructions" text field to track the source until now. So I was pleased to see a dedicated field for source.
Could it be increased beyond 40? To 200? or without limit?

Thanks for the feedback.
I will add your requests to our list and see what we can do.
There is a bit of work involved to switch to an unlimited list of sources, but we may be able to increase it somewhat in the short term.
Thanks.

I would like to see the PC handle missing recipe pictures a little better. Currently a dialog box opens with an error message. If the picture is not present, why not have the program print a message in the picture box? After that have the program act as if no picture was specified.

Just to clarify....
Was a picture specified, then it was moved or deleted, so the PC software could not find it?
Or, was a picture never specified, and you get an error?
Thanks.

A picture was specified and then moved to a different sub-directory.

Any chance a not-to-distant upgrade will be able to use larger displays (keyboard hidden and hi-res: 320x480 or 320x320)?
Thanks.

We have our developers looking into how and when we can support 320x480 displays.
We don't have any estimate yet, however.
Thanks.

Any future plans for compatability: Plus version for the Macintosh?
Thanks.

We don't see enought Mac interest at this time to pay back the development costs of a desktop. It could change in the future, but that is our current situation.
Thanks.

Is there any hope of linking to Datebk so that our menu shows up on our calendar!

Shawn,
Will be registering this program when I get my disability on March, and I would also add this as a feature I could use.
dang by the end of the year my Palm and desktop will be more full of Wakefieldsoft programs than Micro$oft, and Palm stuff!
