Upgraded Mac OS question

I have BookBag Lite installed on my Palm m500. When I upgraded to a new computer and from OS9 to OSX I had to install a completely new version of Palm OS. Do I have to do anything special or when I do my first hot sync from my palm to my desktop will it automatically create a new backup? I don't want to do my first hot sync until I have all my ducks in a row. It would take me forever or longer to replace all the info I have in BookBag and I use it all the time!

If the handheld did not change, then you can hotsync without any problem.
