Problem with my handheld, will I lose my info?

I have Book Bag Lite, a Mac, a Palm m500. My Palm is not hot syncing for some unknown reason. The last possible fix is to do a hard reset and that means I will lose everything on it. If that doesn't work it means a new Palm. Will my data still be on my computer so when I do the first sync after the fix it will show up on whichever Palm? Or am I going to lose everything, which is a LOT, and have to start over?

The backup files should be on the computer in the Palm backup folder. I would make a copy of them just in case.

Thank you. I found it and made a copy and my new Palm came today. I'll know by tomorrow if it installs ok.
